Initiations play an important role in the lives of Tibetan Buddhists. For the spiritual master, it is a fulfilment of his or her purpose to proliferate the teachings, thus ensuring the continuity of the lineage; for the receiver, it is an opportunity to form a deeper bond with their spiritual master and the deity they are initiated to.

It is for these reasons that news of Dorje Shugden mass initiations, such as the one that took place in Chamdo in 2011, are to be rejoiced at. This initiation took place in Jinka Monastery, Dingqing County of Chamdo, Tibet. 5,000 devotees received Dorje Shugden’s life entrustment initiation from Khenpo Zongluo Jampa Khedrup Rinpoche of Chamdo Jampa Ling Monastery.

Rejoice to see more and more high lamas giving Dorje Shugden entrustment to the public. This time 5000 monks and lay people received it in Chamdo. DS is still spread far and wide as long as the DS lamas continue to give the practice. DS is definitely a practice that would generate faith and create strong connection with our gurus, Manjushri and Lama Tsongkhapa our lineage master. DS is not only a protector, He is Manjushri himself in a protector form to connect us to Dharma.

I read with rejoice in my heart at the life entrustment (Sogtae) of enlightened Protector, Dorje Shugden given to the 5,000 monks by Khenpo Zongluo Jampa Khedrup Rinpoche of Chamdo Jampa Ling Monastery. This auspicious event which took place at Jinka Monastery, Dingqing County of Chamdo, Tibet shows how the practise of Lord Dorje Shugden is still well and alive in Tibet. May his beneficial practise continue to spread to bring blessings to the people.
